Senegalese mbalax singer Thione Seck is really good. This 2001 recording is a perfect example, his unmistakable fluttery voice carried by relentless sabar drumming and interesting melodies. A lot of mbalax feels repetitive/dull to me but I am not mad at this album.
FYI: Awesome Tapes from Africa DJ set at this party at Rose Live Music in Williamsburg on Saturday, April 24.
