Some of my favorite Mandingo griot music from Mali. The electric kora rises to particularly gratifying heights throughout (don't you dare hate on electric kora, my dudes). Meanwhile Kouyate's voice—thick as a tree trunk, light as a feather—turns emotional straw into gold before our ears.

I was there to learn and record Kora and filled mine with about 30 cassettes when I returned....been meaning to get around to sharing some of them....this is one of the best...
I don't think its electric kora though. I think its a really bright acoustic (probably an Ovation) through an amp and effects playing kora-like runs. Pretty sure, at least.

Mah Kouyate Nº1 was singer in the National Badema ,she is a simple and elegant woman with a always ageless voice, when interpreting any classic gives it a new form.
